I have been working on a few posts, I even have one saved as a draft, but since I never hit post, nobody got to see it. (^_^)<br />
<br />
I have been keeping busy with several different projects. Several of them revolving around furlough. I'm trying to get new letterhead designed, a new prayer card, new presentation, and calling for meetings.<br />

I've also been dealing with some stomach sickness for a couple weeks. Once I got sick we started boiling our water, so thankfully the rest of the family is still healthy.<br />
<br />
After being sick for a week I went to the hospital, but they couldn't tell me what was wrong. They gave me some Nexium and told me to come back in a week if I was still sick. I want to thank those that have been praying for me. I'm feel good today. But I have noticed that one day I'll feel good, and the next day I'll be back sick again with the stomach pains and sleepiness.<br />
<br />
About the time I got sick we were contacted by a man in a supporting church in FL about our needs. I mentioned about a water filter and my sickness. God worked things out to where we will be getting a nice gravity water filter/purifier! Lord willing, this will put an end to the water sickness!<br />
<br />
I have been working on a blog post about traveling in Greenland. I'm not done with it yet, but trust me, travel here is either difficult, expensive, or both. Since we don't have any roads that connect towns together I can't just hop in a car and drive to another town. The travel between towns here is either boat, plane/helicopter, walking, or in the winter, dog sledge.<br />
<br />
With this in mind I ask you to pray for me and Eli as we are scheduled to walk to another village on Monday. We are going with the other missionary and his oldest son. The distance is 13 miles one way. Please pray that we have a safe trip and that I will be healthy enough to make the walk. I am a little nervous because this is probably the longest hike I have ever done. The plan is to hike there next Monday, camp out, and hike back on Tuesday. We covet your prayers.<br />
<br />
Another thing to pray about is our paperwork. We have a window to file between July 10th and August 10th. If we don't have the paperwork filed by August 10th, we are automatically denied. I don't see any problem in getting things filed in that window, but please pray for the renewals. It's not something we can rush along, so we could be waiting for 6 months (probably longer) to hear an answer.<br />
<br />
Also, check out my other blog (it will mirror these posts for a while, until I make the final move to the new site). Let me know if it loads slow, strange, or just doesn't work right. The address for that one is <a href="http://freezinforareason.wordpress.com/">freezinforareason.wordpress.com</a><br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Point A is where we used to live, Point B is the location of the building we are praying about.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
We have been praying for a while about a building to use once we move back to Sisimiut. We prayed much about it before we left, and we have continued to pray since we have been in Ilulissat. The picture above is the location of one that we would love to use. It is a building that would be suitable not just for a church, but also for our family to live in a separate part.<br />
<br />
The building is owned by INI (a Greenlandic company that handles the government housing). When we first moved to Greenland in 2011 it was being used as the temporary police department. Since shortly after we arrived there the police moved back to their old building, and it has been sitting empty. I have been taken through the building and believe that it would be excellent for our purposes.<br />
<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Here it is. It's not a very good picture, but the ones on the realtor's site is a lot nicer.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<br />
The building is for sale with a realtor in Sisimiut, but when I spoke with INI they told me there was an option to rent it. I'm not sure if that is still available, but we are praying that it is. The rent would include the house, electricity, water, and fuel oil and would total around $4,000 a month (depending on the exchange rate). The price may seem large, but I believe it is cheaper than trying to maintain separate home and church buildings. <br />
<br />
<a href="http://lm.gl/listings/nikkorsuit-14-3911-sisimiut/" target="_blank">Click here</a> for the link to the realtor that is currently handling the building for INI. There you can see more photos of it.<br />
<br />
Please pray with us concerning this. I will update if we come across any other viable options. Also please continue to pray for us about learning Danish and Greenlandic. Thank you! <br />

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZrn0GCFfvSznKDOsRwynq9V2fdkEDUTMyqN7Af7XgKBKpz3JGtTHYYJemjV6LOJUac5aqkQl2STwieOC0OqCo5fL-PE7iKslAAFfAeVorbS-rkbR3iT7osN_CP02Pf4o2SjcRJxcveEeO/s1600/communicate.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZrn0GCFfvSznKDOsRwynq9V2fdkEDUTMyqN7Af7XgKBKpz3JGtTHYYJemjV6LOJUac5aqkQl2STwieOC0OqCo5fL-PE7iKslAAFfAeVorbS-rkbR3iT7osN_CP02Pf4o2SjcRJxcveEeO/s640/communicate.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
I've had this post about communication drafted for a while now, trying to decide when to post it. I think what this talks about is important for all missionaries and churches to get a hold of. Take this post as you
like. Some may agree with me, some may not. I hope this short article can encourage those who have been in good communication with missionaries and be a rebuke to those who, for whatever reason, are neglectful to communicate and prompt then to start keeping in contact with missionaries.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
I want to start out saying that we aren't living in total isolation here in Greenland, but some missionaries might be. I want say THANK YOU to those who have stayed in contact with us. It is a great blessing to me and my family to get the cards, emails, letters, and packages that have been sent. But I believe the issue with communicating with missionaries is something that does need to be addressed.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
I remember hearing much on pastors in
the US telling missionaries that they need to communicate. Don't
forget to "keep in touch". Don't forget the monthly, bi-monthly, or
how-ever-often prayer letters. I have read the “Missions Rules”
that say a supported missionary <b>MUST</b> send prayer letters/updates to the church at
least every two or three months or their support would be stopped. I
have probably even signed some form of agreement along those lines
with churches.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Now we sit on the other side of the
fence (or ocean, as the case maybe). We have been in Greenland for almost 2 years and there are
some churches that we have never heard from. It didn't start when we came here, some of them never kept in contact when we were Stateside either. I'm sure they have some
reason or another, but is there really any good excuse? Letters
aren't that expensive to send (they expect missionaries to send them)
and emails cost nothing but a couple minutes in typing. And with
today's technology you could even send an SMS that would arrive
instantly.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
I can only imagine a church's reaction
if I, as a missionary, communicated with them as often as they
communicate with me. What if the only time they heard from me is
when I am calling to find out why they have neglected or been unfaithful in
support (ooohh...that's a no-no for a missionary to do, am I right?).
The only time I have communicated with some churches is when
they have moved buildings or changed email addresses (without telling
us, the missionary) and they want to know why they haven't been receiving
prayer letters!<br />
<br />
There has to be a better way to do this, and I hope these ideas will help someone, somewhere.<br />
<br />
First let me mention a things concerning communication:<b> </b></div>
<ul>
<li><b>Communication is best when it is a two way street: giving and receiving.</b> Communication should involve dialogue, not monologue. It gets tiresome being the only one to say things and almost never get a response. It would frustrating if you were on either side of the fence, USA or overseas.<br /></li>
<li><b>Lack of communication breeds suspicion.</b> In this time of growing apostasy and heresy, proper communication is needed more now than ever. If I suddenly quit sending prayer letters out, and churches never heard from me for let's say a year, they <i>might</i> start to wonder what was wrong. "<i>Have they quit?</i>" "<i>Has he gone off in some goofy heresy?</i>" "<i>Are they dead?</i>" But there are some churches that I have not heard from since arriving in Greenland. It makes me wonder: "<i>Have </i>they<i> closed?</i>" "<i>Have </i>they<i> gone off in some goofy heresy?</i>" "<i>Did the pastor quit and the church die?</i>"<b> <br /></b></li>
<li><b>Communication can help to build relationships between the missionary and churches</b>. Really, how many of you think you could have a good relationship with your wife, husband, or children if you never talk with them? The relationship that a missionary shares with churches isn't the same as a husband/wife/child relationship, but I hope you get the idea.<br /></li>
<ul>
<li>Like I mentioned about how lack of communication breeds suspicion, can you imagine how your spouse would be if you just stopped talking with them, hugging them, and telling them you loved them? They would probably start wondering what was wrong. AND SOMETHING WOULD BE GREATLY WRONG! But is is accepted as standard operating procedure in <b>most</b> churches concerning missions even though it is very harmful.<br /></li>
<li>Along the same line of building relationships goes the thought of getting churches to know the missionaries and vice-versa. I would hope it would go without saying, but sending questionnaires under the guise of "Getting to know our missionaries" is ridiculous. If you want to send a questionnaire, send one. If you want to get to know missionaries, the spend to time and effort to do so. When you met your future wife or husband you wanted to get to know them, right? How many of you had them fill out a 6 page essay questionnaire? Hopefully NONE! That is <u><b>not</b></u> how you get to know anyone, it's how you have people apply for a job or enter a contest.<br /></li>
</ul>
<li><b>Be consistent!</b> However you choose to stay in contact with
missionaries, I beg you, do it consistently. I can't tell you how often I
have known of folks feeling bad for not keeping with missionaries better,
contact them once or twice, and never hear from them until a year or so
later when they feel bad again. Please, be consistent.</li>
</ul>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
There is nothing new, strange, or
uncommon in my ideas for staying in contact with missionaries, except that
you should do it and do it consistently.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
</div>
<ol>
<li><div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<b>Call them</b> – you can use Skype
(that might get costly though), use Google Talk, calling cards, or research some other
method.<br />
</div>
</li>
<li><div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<b>Email them</b> – It's the perfect
price for most people – FREE!<br />
</div>
</li>
<li><div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="background: transparent;"><b>SMS
(text message) them</b> – Not all phones can text internationally but if you
have a smart phone, chances are you can find an app that will let
you do it for free.</span><br />
</div>
</li>
<li><div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<b>Send a letter or a card</b> – Send
it to the missionaries directly on the field, not to their church
where it will either be lost, forgotten, or arrive 3 months after the fact. My kids LOVE to get
cards for birthdays or whatever reason as do other missionaries kids
that I have talked with.<br />
</div>
</li>
<li><div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<b>Social media</b> - Find out if they use Facebook,
Twitter, Google+, or some other type of social media and keep up
with them.<br />
</div>
</li>
<li><div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<b>Visit them</b> – This is the highest
cost of ways to communicate, but it is the most effective and memorable.
There is nothing quite like seeing the missionaries field in person.<br />
<br />
Staying in contact can be a great joy and source of encouragement for both parties when done properly. When neglected or misused it can be a source of hurt, maybe even deep hurt, for one or both sides. Not just with churches and missionaries either, this applies to all relationships in life.<br />
<br />
I hope this article will help some missionaries, churches, and individuals. It's been something that has bothered me for a while now, but I wanted to do the best I could to convey the frustration involved AND propose some possible (and mainly simple, common sense) solutions. Hopefully this will help someone.<br />
<br />
Proper communication will take time and effort (and maybe some money too) but it will be worth it when it is done right. Thank you for taking time to read this. May God help us when it comes to communication.</div>

Yes, it's shaky, too dark, and looks like I had coffee jitters while filming, but maybe you can get an idea of our walk to church.<br />
<br />
It is lighter now, we have a sledge to stabilize the camera, but it's been SO cold that I didn't know if the camera battery will last for the entire walk.<br />
<br />
So here is the video, sped up to 16X, with a little music that Masey suggested would make it more fun. I hope you don't get motion sick too easy. (^_^)<br />

A few of you may have received notifications when I put them on there, but I'm sure everyone didn't. I thought I would repost them here and add an extra one.<br />
<br />
I'm calling the videos "10 Seconds in Greenland." I kept the videos short for a few reasons, mainly because of our limited internet I wanted to keep them short. Another reason for the name is because they (should be) 10 seconds long, either because I sped up the video or only shot a short sequence. Sometimes they'll upload to be 11 seconds, so enjoy the bonus second for free. (^_^)<br />
<br />
This one is of a snowstorm we got a few weeks ago:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dwAgZSu9E1p6ABqPGp_SGpIbzzVZ3oasFziTSQ69BNVeIsPjr6KZ8lAuYLYy3eqfzqmmQQF9yuBaIlfy2ewrA' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div>
<br />
This one is of a wonderful moonrise I was watching. I had noticed that the moon seemed to be rising very rapidly while I sat and watched it, and I thought it would look even better to record a few minutes and speed it up. I think this video was originally 5 minutes long.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dwDlptjAchr6k5th6E_Xywxk_nOMTIrNalLkO0VPVpYlmJ_5Sj__VejfXlEO9-JxdYVyDuKMFQDwyKcIY7Wpw' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div>
<br />
This video one is of Ilulissat's bay. At least that's how it looked a few weeks ago. Now it's all frozen over.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dw95_IiRXAu2zKU_FvLz1S8_myM3in5HQDuvcBW0wXDV74yoF2tozKFJm9WC-99lL04wDpz5VOMlnKI6KLOvQ' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div>
<br />
I haven't forgotten about uploading a video of our walk to church. I'm still working out a way to strap our camera to the sledge to keep it warm and get a more stable recording. When I get it, I'll be sure to post it on here too.<br />
<br />Thanks for taking time to watch these videos of common, everyday things here in Greenland.<br />

I came across this article about a frozen village in Russia called Oymyakon. It said their average temp in January is -50 Celsius (almost -60 F) but lately it's been down to -71 Celsius (about -95F)! Whooee, that's a cold place!<br />
<br />
It gets cold here in Greenland, but I've never seen or heard of temps that cold! Now I have a place to think of when I'm doing the 25 minute walk to get groceries and say "At least it's not as cold as the Oymyakon area!" (^_^)<br />
<br />
Click <a href="http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2280650/Oymyakon-coldest-village-earth-Weather-takes-turn-worse-71C-Russian-hamlet.html" target="_blank">HERE</a> for the article with lots of nice pictures. I think the people there resemble Greenlanders.<br />
<br />
On a side note, it would be great to hear of missionaries in this place, but I do not know of any. Pray for the Oymyakon area and if you happen to know of missionaries there, let me know. Thanks!Bro.Arnoldhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05756653508789257377noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7610832077769781454.post-53935939795658179562013-01-09T18:36:00.000-05:002013-01-09T18:36:02.714-05:0010 yearsI'm a week or so late but "Happy New Year!" (^_^)<br />
<br />
These past few weeks had our family quite busy. Maryanna had her 8th birthday on the 23, Masey and I celebrated our 10th anniversary, then all that goes on with Christmas (especially since it's celebrated over the course of 3 days up here), and New Years.<br />
<br />
Maryanna had a great time when we finally had her birthday party (on the 27th). She enjoyed the presents, her birthday meal, and getting to have the other missionary family over. She especially loved getting her "Birthday Box" from her Aunt Mena.<br />

<br />
Masey and I had a wonderful time in town as we had a meal (all by ourselves!) and got to look around town some. It's hard to believe that we've been married for ten years, but I gotta admit that I've had a great 10 years! I not only count Masey as a wonderful wife and mommy, but as my best friend that I have on earth. I wouldn't trade her for anything! (Not just cause she knows too many embarrassing things and the hush money would be unaffordable, but also because I love her! ^_^) <br />
<br />
The last half of December is usually a blur of things to do, things to remember to do, or trying to remember something that we are sure we forgot to do.<br />
<br />
Also today (Jan 9) is 10 years since I got saved. Like with my marriage, it feels like only yesterday it happened, but so much has occurred between now and then. I remember how the Lord would convict my heart of sin, yet I would resist Him, not willing to admit that I was a sinner in need of a Saviour. Instead I would try to do better and be better, deceiving myself into thinking that things would be alright.<br />
<br />
The first time I ever remember hearing the Gospel was in the Fall of
1999 in my hometown of Corinth, MS. I remember God convicting me then about sin,
yet I chose to reject Him and His Son, choosing instead to try my best
to be a good enough person to earn God's favor and blessing. <br />
<br />
On Wednesday Jan 8, 2003, I remember calling into work cause I was "sick" (more like love-sick) and I went to church with my beautiful bride. We had only been married a couple weeks and I was very busy between work and college, so I was looking forward to spending the extra time with her. I had no idea that God was going to deal with me about my sinfulness that night.<br />
<br />
The pastor of the church we went to was out of town on that evening and an older, godly man preached a great message from 1 Corinthians 15 about being settled in God. I can still recall the passing comment he made from Psalms 40 about the pit of sin and how nobody can lift their self out of it, that only God can, and how that is a picture of salvation.<br />
<br />
I may not be able to remember what clothes I worse yesterday, but I still remember God working in my heart when the preacher spoke, "If you don't remember God lifting you up out of that pit of sin, you should be concerned about your soul."<br />
<br />
I had been in a spiritual turmoil for a while, not sure what to do, where to go, or who to talk with. Some days I thought things were OK between me and God, at other times I felt crushed under a burden I couldn't move. I prayed at church that night, went home with my new bride, but the troubled feeling didn't go away.<br />
<br />
As the night rolled on, Masey didn't know what to do to help me and she eventually went on to bed. I was trying to find something to soothe my pricked conscious so I read my Bible some and listened to a preaching tape.<br />
<br />
The time continued on and it was about 12:30 on the morning of Jan 9 that I woke Masey to tell her I was lost and needed to get saved. I no longer trusted in my good works, or my own deception to make me right in God's sight. (One of the biggest things I faced was that I kept telling folks I was saved that I had started believing my lie. AND I was too proud to admit that I was such a bad sinner that I needed to get saved.) I was now convinced that the only way I could have a right relationship with God and ever get to go to Heaven was through salvation in Jesus Christ. I guess you could say that my pride was cast down, as was my vain logic and thoughts, and I finally, truly, believed the what the Bible says.<br />
<br />
As I knelt on my bed I remember praying to God, confessing that I was a sinner, that I couldn't save myself, and by faith turning from my works and other things that I hoped might save me to the One who would save me, Jesus Christ.<br />
<br />
Looking back I can see how God had been convicting my heart for a long time, yet I kept rejecting Him and not letting His Holy Spirit work on my heart, I must praise God for not giving up on convicting me. I think of the song <u>Must I Go, and Empty Handed?</u> when I think back to those days in my life. One verse in particular says "O, the years in sinning wasted, could I but recall them now, I would give them to the Saviour, to His will I'd humbly bow."<br />
<br />
I didn't grow up in church, but in the time that I had been in church before my salvation I had learned the verses that are commonly used when dealing with the lost. I knew about Romans 3:10 "<i>As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:</i>" and Romans 6:23 "<i>For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.</i>" But somewhere along the way I didn't acknowledge some of the verses as applying to me. Verses like Ephesians 2:8-9 "<i>For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.</i>" How could a person that actually does believe the Bible be blind to those verses? I guess I could say that not only was Jan 9 the day I got saved, but it was also the day that I became a Bible believer.<br />
<br />
After 10 years of trying to walk with God and serve Him, I'm still learning to walk right, still wanting to grow more, still hoping to serve God better. I've never been sinless, and after having had my sins forgiven, sadly I do still sin and struggle with things. BUT I'm so glad that God is faithful, even when I'm not.Bro.Arnoldhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05756653508789257377noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7610832077769781454.post-85073137233462103912012-12-08T18:07:00.000-05:002012-12-08T18:07:15.371-05:00It's gettin' dark out<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

While video Skyping with our sending church, <a href="http://www.experiencevictory.net/" target="_blank">Victory Baptist Church</a>, last week I mentioned to them about posting a video of our 25-30 minute walk to church. Well I recorded the video, but it didn't turn out as well as I hoped. It's too dark (24 hour darkness now) and too shaky. I did some editing on it, but I am still not pleased with house it looks. SO, instead of posting a junky, dark, earthquaking video I will be waiting until we can get a sledge to use, strap our camera to that, and make a nice smooth, although probably still dark video.<br />
<br />
<br />
Why do this? We would like for others to see how we commute over here. We don't have a car and rarely take a taxi (they're expensive, and honestly some drivers are just plain scary). If we want to go somewhere, we hoof it on foot. It can get very tiring, but that's how it is here. Most people in Greenland don't own a car, so we are in the majority in that area.<br />
<br />
We're looking for the place (or places) to go and order us our very own sledge. Looks like prices range between $300-400 depending on which size we choose. Our desire is to have one big enough to carry groceries home one and to transport the kids if/when they get too tired to walk. We do NOT plan on getting any dogs though, so it will have to be the right size to carry those things, while still allowing me to push it. Please pray for this. <br />

In completely other news, Masey and the kids got their approval papers in the mail the other day! YAY! We're happy about that because that allows us to live and minister here until Sept 2013 (don't worry though, we'll refile for another extension before then). Those that receive our prayer letters could tell that we were concerned with their approval. I had heard several different answers from Immigration about their paperwork, but none of them decisive or in writing. Mainly I heard a lot of "Keep waiting" or "We don't really know what is taking so long" etc. So we thank you for praying for that and we thank God for answering how He did.<br />

We arrived here in Ilulissat, Greenland last Friday, Nov 2. Since then we have been busy getting adjusted to the new town, the darker days, and serving in the new church here in Ilulissat. <br />
<br />
Lord willing, our container will arrive safe and sound tomorrow, and will be delivered and unpacked the next Monday.<br />
Also Eryn had a birthday. Our little baby girl is now 5! I told her that I remembered being 5, but I don't think she believed me. ^_^<br />

We are getting things boxed, bagged, and labeled for our upcoming move. I want to say "Thank you!" to those who have been praying for us lately.<br />
<br />
I finally decided on a container. We will be going with a 20 ft container instead of the mini container. This size did cost more, but after running some measurements through a 3D home design program called <a href="http://www.sweethome3d.com/index.jsp" target="_blank">Sweet Home 3D</a>, I found out that our stuff just wouldn't fit into two mini containers thereby negating the cost effectiveness of them. It was either go with the bigger container or get rid of our couch and various shelving/cabinets, so that made the decision a whole lot easier! (^_^)<br />
<br />
We will be loading our container on Monday, Oct 29. We're not sure of the time, so we have to be on standby all day. (Stop by if you're in the area. ^_^ We'll let you help!) Please pray that the container makes it to Ilulissat without any delays. If all goes well we should be unloading it on Nov 12. There is the problem of the ocean (or even the bay in Ilulissat) being impassible because of sea ice. This happens every year for them, I'm just not sure if it happens this early in the year or not.<br />
<br />
We will fly out from here on the following Friday, Nov 2. Once again, please pray that we won't have any weather delays with the flights. This flight isn't a direct flight to Ilulissat though; we have a short layover in Aasiaat, so we are hoping to get a few pictures of the airport at least.<br />
<br />
We are excited to be moving up to work with the Shull family, but also sad to be leaving Sisimiut. We still want to see a good, strong, independent Baptist church started in Sisimiut one day. Not just Sisimiut only, we want to see them all throughout Greenland! Whether those churches are started by us, another missionary family, or some saved, discipled, and sent-out Greenlanders, we want to see Christ taken to all of Greenland.<br />
<br />
On another note, I have changed this blog back to the old style. After tweaking and changing things in the Dynamic Views, I just didn't like it. I still hope to get more personalizing done with this layout, just at a later date. <br />
<br />
Thank you for the prayers for our family and for those who have sent notes, cards, monthly support, and special offerings to our family. We are very grateful to be laboring in our little patch of ice for our Saviour, Jesus Christ! <br />

Actually we're flying, not traveling by dog sledge. I think Masey would end my life if we were to travel that far by sledge (about 175 miles). I did purchase the plane tickets this past Tuesday, Oct 2. We are scheduled to fly out from here to Ilulissat on Friday, November 2. Please continue to pray for us as we have lots to do.<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Dash 8 - We're hoping for this plane (it's the nicer of the two)</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
In order for our belongings to get to Ilulissat we will need to ship a container. You might be wondering why we need to ship a container. We cannot use a moving truck because there are no roads between here and there. In fact, there are no roads that connect any of Greenland's cities or villages. I have a choice between a 20 ft container or I could use two or three mini containers. For those that may not know, a mini container is about the same height and width of a 20 ft container but it's about a quarter of the length. It's also about a quarter of the cost to use a mini container. <br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: left; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCwNTD5PXTySs7njazRddYtibsHpT3tXJ0-B11RUr8i0FJbKGaRqlJR0yeJkTN0sk7P63JVj1w41HXBQQYnG3KTogdzSzs32Tz_0iXMqaluf6B7j4eQ46emPIoqWAcbaSvRYAIW_HPeur0/s1600/Mini+Container.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="294" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCwNTD5PXTySs7njazRddYtibsHpT3tXJ0-B11RUr8i0FJbKGaRqlJR0yeJkTN0sk7P63JVj1w41HXBQQYnG3KTogdzSzs32Tz_0iXMqaluf6B7j4eQ46emPIoqWAcbaSvRYAIW_HPeur0/s400/Mini+Container.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">This looks the same size as the mini one we're considering</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
When we moved here from America we used a 20 ft container, but it wasn't packed full. What I see as a draw back would be the cost of getting the containers to and from both harbors. If the truck has to do multiple trips, that will eat up any money that we might save by using it.<br />
<br />
Please continue to pray for us to have wisdom with these decisions and needs. More specifically: (1) I need to decided something definite in about a week concerning the type of container to let the company know in plenty of time, (2) the approval of the rest of the family's paperwork, and (3) the rest of the money needed for shipping the container (or containers) which is about $1000.<br />
<br />
We are so grateful for those that pray for us. If you have any questions about this move, any advice, or just a note of encouragement, feel free to email me (email address is on the "Who we are" page.)<br />

</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
This past couple weeks have been filled
with ups and downs and ups for us. (Kinda makes me think of a
roller coaster in that regard.)
<br />
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
On Sept 17 I called Danish Immigration
on a whim, not thinking much would come of it. The lady I spoke with
gave us great news, the paperwork had been approved and we could move
to Ilulissat! In fact, it had been approved for a week when I called
them.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
We were ecstatic! I called the other
missionaries in Ilulissat to let them know the great news. We set a
date of November 2 to move to Ilulissat. I got a letter in the mail
a couple days later stating that I had been approved to work as a
missionary in Ilulissat. We were eagerly awaiting the actually
residence cards all week, when last Friday a horrible thought struck
me. The letter said that Marty Arnold (that's me) had been approved,
but it said nothing of my family. OH NO!</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Because of the time difference between
Greenland and Denmark it was too late to call Immigration on Friday
to check on our fears. I did go by our police department to ask them
as see what they could find. I was told they would do some checking
and let me know on Monday. Monday came and I never heard from them,
so I decided to call Immigration on Tuesday morning to try and find
some answers for myself.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
The phone call didn't go at all like we
hoped. The woman told me that I had misfiled my family's paperwork
and that was hindering the progress. I tried to explain that I filed
the same way this time as I did in 2010 when we originally applied
and had no troubles then, but it didn't matter. I asked her why
hadn't anyone told me before now, since the paperwork had been
pending for over 7 months. She informed me that: (1) They never look
at accompanying family members paperwork until the main paperwork
(mine) is approved and (2) That she was now informing me that it was
wrong.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
From what I gathered while conversing
with her is that Danish Immigration will let the paperwork stand for
now, but the review process will be when they get around to it.
Meaning that, although they claim it was done wrong, it will be ok.
She flat out told me that they have NO time line for my family's
approval.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
This crushed us! Now what are we
supposed to do?!?! I immediately called the other missionary family
to inform them. We were praying for a miracle now. The police
department here was still checking to see if there is something else
that can be done while we wait, but they have not given any answers.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
I called again this past Thursday to
let them know that my residence card had not arrived yet. I was told
that it can take 4-6 weeks to get them printed and then Immigration
will ship them here. I thought I was going to pass out when she told
me that. It seemed like more bad news for us. I talked with her
about getting the card sent to Ilulissat since technically I had
already been approved to move. Thankfully it doesn't look like that
should be a problem.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
I had her check on my family's
paperwork again. We had been praying for a miracle. She told us
that their paperwork looked fine and that the case worker had been
looking at it. That was good news for us! Apparently they have
changed the rules for some of the filing, but she didn't know if that
was before or after we had originally filed in January.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
I asked her if it would be OK for us to
move to Ilulissat while their paperwork was pending. After some
checking she told me that it should be fine to do that. She did
caution us that if Masey and the kids were to be denied, they would
have to leave Greenland. As I was getting off the phone with her,
she was going to send a note to their caseworker telling her that I
had called to check on the progress and asking her to email me if our
moving would be a problem while the other paperwork is pending.
Praise God, so far I haven't gotten any emails from them!</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
After praying about it we have decided
to take a step of faith and go ahead and purchase the tickets for our
original moving date of November 2. We will be buying the tickets
either tonight or in the morning.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Please pray for us concerning
Immigration. Please pray:</div>
<ol>
<li>That Danish Immigration will approve my family quickly</li>
<li>That Immigration won't have any problem with us moving to
Ilulissat if my family is not approved by the time we desire to
move. </li>
<li>For us about this move. We have a lot of work that
needs to be done in packing, arranging a container, getting the
container up there before the sea ice gets too thick, and also paying
for the shipping of the container. If I'm not mistaken we still need
about $1,000 to finish covering the container costs, so please pray that this would come in also.</li>
</ol>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
We have a place to minister and a place
to live waiting on us in Ilulissat, now we are just waiting for the
approval. Within two weeks we have gone from great happiness and
celebration, to sadness and uncertainty, to where we are now: hopeful
and optimistic. At times like these I can be so grateful that even
though I have no control over the situation, God still does. Please
pray that God's will be done, and if He sees fit, the family will
receive approval swiftly so that we can arrive in Ilulissat on
November 2. Thank you!</div>

This is the new design that I have settled on. The things that I like about this design outweigh the parts I don't like, but I do plan to do some tweaking on it as I learn how.<br />
<br />
Leave me a comment or shot me and email to let me know what you think of this design. Just in case you haven't been here in a while, click on the picture below to see what the site did look like.<br />

<br />
Thank you for praying for us. Masey is doing a lot better. She has been able to get back to her housework, which she has been wanting to do since I'm not a very good housewife. ^_^<br />
<br />
I am getting ready to do our next prayer letter. If you would like to get them by email, just email me telling me who you are and that you would like to be added to the list.<br />
<br />
I want to thank everyone once again for the kind emails and the comments that Masey got on Facebook while she was sick. They have been a great blessing to us!Bro.Arnoldhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05756653508789257377noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7610832077769781454.post-88661959029362100462012-08-07T15:13:00.000-04:002012-08-07T15:14:40.812-04:00A few hospital visitsThank you for keep up with us through my sparse blog posts. The past few days I have been talking with Danish Immigration and the police station here to try and find out more on our paperwork. Denmark told me that the paperwork is hung up in Greenland and Greenland says that they sent everything to Denmark in January (which Denmark acknowledges). So it seems to be a case of one hand not knowing what the other is doing. That leaves us back to playing the waiting game. I still plan to call Danish Immigration at the beginning of every month until I get an answer. Will that hurry them up any? I doubt it, but it would help me to <i>feel</i> more productive. ^_^<br />
<br />
I try to keep in mind that we were first approved in Feb 2011 I had called Danish Immigration that morning and they said they couldn't give me any certain answer other than the paperwork was still being worked on. Later that day I received a call from the Danish Embassy in New York to let me know that they had the approvals and needed our passports. With that in mind they could have sent an answer here 10 days ago and they wouldn't know because it takes two weeks for things to show up in their system. <br />
<br />
For those that have been wondering, I did have the dental work done here and it went very smoothly. I had three back teeth extracted (two wisdom teeth and one broken tooth) without a great deal of pain. Which I am very glad for because the extent of the medication given was Pamol (like Tylenol) and Ibuprofen. They were done a week apart and I have healed up just fine.<br />
<br />
My wife, Masey, has been having her share of health problems. A little over three weeks ago she started with a bad dizzy spell while cooking. Since then she has had bad headaches, muscle aches, tight stiff neck, gets winded very easily, and stays tired. We have had three trips to the local hospital, blood work a couple times, and other neurological tests which ended up in the doctor telling us that nothing is wrong with her. Needless to say she is still about the same with good days and bad days. We have also been talking with a doctor friend for ideas on things to watch for and reporting symptoms back to him. While we still don't know what is causing these problems, we do know that God is controlling all of this and pray that He receives glory and honor form this. A great big "THANK YOU!" goes out to those who have prayed for us during this time! <br />
<br />
I have done what I can to help out around the house but I am no housekeeper or cook. Thankfully the children have been helping some and Ramen Noodles were on sale last week.^_^<br />
<br />
Masey was feeling a little better today so she hung out some laundry and walked to the store by herself. She did good but came home very tired from all of the walking. I jokingly asked her about taking a hike to a local water fall that we have been wanting to see but I doubt she will be up for that anytime soon. When I went there alone it was a three hour hike for me because I didn't know the trails. I told Masey that we could take it slow and make it a five hour hike, but she's still not interested right now. ^_^<br />
<br />
Masey also has a blog that she is doing (and quite well I want to add). It is <a href="http://maseysthoughts.blogspot.com/">maseysthoughts.blogspot.com</a>. She enjoys doing this blog very much, and she has some great thoughts on here. Head on over there, read what she has to say, and sign up for email updates.<br />
<br />
Our summer feels like it is ending. We've been getting rain for over a week now and enjoying temps in the mid to upper 40's. I must say that I'm looking forward to winter again. Summer was nice, but with winter comes dark nights again, and that makes it easier to sleep at night!<br />
<br />
On another note I am planning on doing some changing and rearranging to this blog. If you have any suggestions for changes, you can leave them in the comments or email them to me. <br />
<br />
Please continue to pray for us as we are FREEZIN'<i>...for a reason</i>.Bro.Arnoldhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05756653508789257377noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7610832077769781454.post-12479480962466491202012-06-27T10:06:00.003-04:002012-06-27T10:06:51.632-04:00Catching upThings have been quite on the blog but that doesn't mean things haven't been happening here. We have been plenty busy with just the everyday things of living here in Greenland. The kids have been dealing with some sickness. It looks like it is just some congestion, though we think Eryn may have had strep. For those that get our prayer letters you'll know that I hurt my foot recently. I can say that it is healing up nicely. Though it wasn't broken, it sure was bruised and sore. I was able to go on a three and a half hour hike yesterday and didn't have any trouble with my foot. Also, pray for me because I will be needing some dental work done soon. Going to dentists in America were a nervous ordeal for me, but going to one here makes me feel even worse. ^_^<br />
<br />
We still have not heard "Yes" or "No" from Danish Immigration concerning our move to Ilulissat. Please continue to pray for us about this. Things are still continuing on with our studies. I finished my Greenlandic classes at the end of April and gained some more knowledge of the language. I have shifted focus for now to Danish, praying that I can gain more fluency with that language. I have learned some more phrases in Danish and I'm working on getting better with my pronunciation.<br />
<br />
I am preparing something of a "Religious Survey" to pass out to some of the people we know here. I can do all the reading about the Lutheran church or the superstitions of the peoples here, but I believe to best way to understand the beliefs would be to ask them. It is just a few very simple questions that I am translating into Danish. I hope to see some good results to where I can better know what the people believe or don't believe. I have noticed that when I talk with the English speaking ones they can converse with me until I get to Bible topics. I lose them when I talk of things like sin, salvation, the Gospel, heaven and hell. I know a few of these terms in Danish and yet they don't understand those either. It seems like any work done here will take a long time in what we might call the simple, foundational truths of the Bible.<br />
<br />
Please continue to pray for us. We deal with many spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical strains, but we know that it is God that sustains us.Bro.Arnoldhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05756653508789257377noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7610832077769781454.post-88956209004151989102012-05-08T15:28:00.000-04:002012-05-08T15:28:30.117-04:00The Ilulissat Trip<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Our main reason for going to Ilulissat wasn't to see the town, though it was great. It wasn't to fellowship with another Christian family, though it was much needed! Our main reason was to see about working with the Shull family. We have been in Sisimiut for a year now but we really believe that it would be the Lord's will for us to move up to Ilulissat and work with the Shull family! While we have made friends and contacts here, our Danish & Greenlandic still are not at the level to be able to witness to them. By moving we have several goals in mind, one of which would be furthering our language skills.<br />
<br />
We are praying about moving up there at the beginning of September. Please keep us in prayer as we still have much to do in preparation for the move. We are sad to leave behind friends here, but we are excited to see how things will be in Ilulissat. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.Bro.Arnoldhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05756653508789257377noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7610832077769781454.post-24626098251253880592012-03-27T18:32:00.001-04:002012-03-27T18:36:24.377-04:00Running the Race<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Our town, Sisimiut, just hosted their
16th annual Arctic Circle Race. It is said to be the hardest cross
country skiing race in the world. We had about 140 skiers from
several different countries come here to compete. Our town hosted
folks from a total of 15 countries. They came from Greenland,
Denmark, New Zealand, America, Russia, Germany, and other countries.
The racers were of a diverse age group also, the youngest being 14
and the eldest being 67 years old.</div>

They left the starting line on Friday
at 10:00 AM. They had to travel a total of 100 miles in 3 days,
arriving back in our town throughout the day on Sunday. We were able
to go out Friday and watch them leave, cheering them on for this
harsh competition. There was a big turnout and beautiful weather as
they began their trek. Masey and I agreed that we would have died of
exhaustion before the race ever got underway! They were doing
something that we couldn't physically do and it was impressive.</div>

<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
The racers started arriving back before
noon and we were there to watch them arrive by about 1:30 PM. Some
came back all alone and others in groups of two, three, or four. We
got to see the only American in the race, Leslie Hale, arrive back.
I was able to speak with her for a few minutes before she went to
rest and warm up. The race was an utterly exhausting experience.</div>

There were a few upsets during the
race. One of the main male contenders hurt himself shortly into the
race and was out per doctors orders. Some others couldn't handle the
race and quit. A few didn't even show up for whatever reason and
were disqualified.</div>

<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
After the racers left I got to thinking
how that is a good picture of sending out missionaries. At a sending
service there is a great celebration and cheering. We expect
wonderful things and hope for the best! We think of how great it is
for them to be involved in what they are doing. They are involved in
something that most others cannot or will not do. Then the
missionaries are off into the field of service like the races sent
off into the cold wilderness.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
It didn't take long for the racers to
pass out of our vision and out of most people's minds. I'm afraid
that happens with missionaries too. They head off to their field of
service, pass out of the minds of those they left cheering them on,
and soon are forgotten. Those of us that stayed behind don't see the
trying conditions, the pains, the hunger, the strain that the racers
went through. And most don't see or know of what their missionaries
might be going through. Some missionaries face greater dangers than
others but they do face danger, hardships, exhaustion, and hunger for
the familiar things of "back home".</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
At the finish line we waited to greet
those who had completed the race, but not everyone finished. Some
had been disqualified, some had quit, and some had been injured too
bad to continue on. This happens with missionaries too. Some become
disqualified, some quit for the world or other things, or some suffer
injuries to great for them to continue on the field.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
There was nothing that I could do to
help those in the Arctic Circle Race who were like this but the
racers were not alone during their race. Folks assisted them with
food, shelter, drying their clothes, rest for their weary bodies, and
friendship. Missionaries need assistance also. They get beat up by
language, culture, loneliness, lack of supplies, and many other
differences from what they are used to. But there is something that
can be done for missionaries. I can pray for them: the man, his
faithful wife, and his dear children. I can check in on them:
letters, cards, email, Face Book, etc. I may even get to go assist
them one day: see their hardships, difficulties, problems, and also
the blessings, miracles, and provision of our mighty God and Saviour!
There is more ways than these for those of you that are more
creative than me, but I challenge you not to forget your
missionaries.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
I'm not writing this for just the
Arnold family only but for all of those missionaries out there who
may feel frustrated, alone, forgotten, and helpless at times. I am
sure there is a missionary family or two that your church supports
who could use a note of encouragement. I am sure you could find a
missionary who would love to hear that someone REALLY IS praying for
them, not just hoping someone is. I am sure that you could find a
missionary wife that would love to have an encouraging conversation
with an English speaking Christian who believes like she does. I am
sure you could find some missionary kids who would love to get cards
on their birthdays, a letter from America, or get a dollar bill to
show off.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Check out the prayer letters that your
missionaries send in. If they email the prayer letters, sign up to get them. Read them, pray for them, and correspond with
them! Of course if you aren't in church, then you will have great
difficulty find a Bible believing, Gospel preaching missionary to do
this with. OR if you are in a church that doesn't support
missionaries, my advice is to ditch that thing and find a church that
believes and preaches the Bible and supports missionaries. A church
justifies it's existence based upon it's missionary works. If it
isn't involved in missions, there is NO reason for that church to
exist! If you need help in finding a missionary to correspond with
or a good church, let me know and I'll try to help.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Just like the Arctic Circle skiers ran
a rough and rugged race, and so do missionaries. Not everyone could be
involved in the Arctic Circle Race, but everyone can be involved in
missions! What are you doing??<br />

For the first few weeks we lived here I wasn't sure what it was. It had cut out pictures of animals all over the outside, but I didn't notice a name or anything. One day I got the nerve to go in there and found out that it is our local meat & fish market.<br />
<br />
Most hunters & fishermen bring the meat that they wish to sell here to have it handled for them. We have found all kinds of meat in here. They have had everything from rabbits, ducks, various birds to whale, seal, and I think walrus too! Our kids love to go here and get muskox and reindeer for soups, stews, and roasts. To me, the muskox and reindeer are just as good frozen as they are fresh, so we can buy the frozen there year round.<br />
<br />
They usually have plenty of fish, most fresh but some frozen. We can get the things that aren't too strange like cod, salmon, and arctic char all the way to things like stone biter and rose fish. You can also buy what we would call the innards (liver, roe, etc).<br />
<br />
One thing that we have yet to try is halibut. They really brag on the halibut here and I hope to get to try some this summer (either buying it or catching it myself ^_^)<br />
<br />
They have hanging in the store is a long piece of whale baleen. I thought that was really neat. Click "read more" to see the following pics that I took today while browsing the store.<br />

For those who don't get out prayer letter, the other missionary family, the Shulls, have asked us to pray about moving up there. We would be helping them with some new ministries in their church and both families would get some much needed fellowship.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/ae/Ilulissat.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/ae/Ilulissat.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Ilulissat</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
The news that I wanted to announce was that we stepped out by faith and purchased the tickets! The purpose of the trip up to Ilulissat is to visit with the Shulls, see their town, and to better be able to pray about moving there. We will be travelling the last part of April and are very excited! We are REALLY looking forward to this trip!<br />
<br />
Please be in prayer for us as we make these decisions regarding moving and working with the Shulls. Loneliness is one of the biggest things that our family deals with here in Sisimiut and we would love to be able to work with another family. We just want to be discerning and cautious in making decisions and doing God's will and not base our decisions on what we want or desire.<br />
<br />
The Shull family has a blog, if you would like to check it out <a href="http://arctic-adventures.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">click here</a>. Thank you for praying for us about this decision.Bro.Arnoldhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05756653508789257377noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7610832077769781454.post-11862135234616837412012-03-02T11:27:00.000-05:002012-03-02T11:27:12.907-05:00Getting out and aboutWe have been very cold lately, which means that we are spending more time inside. The other day we went out as a family to the Timersortarfik (Sports Hall) to get a meal. We don't do this often so it was a nice treat for all of us. We still have not heard anything either way. I am supposed to speak with the superintendent this week, but I have yet to hear from him or catch him in his office.<br />
<br />
Also please be praying for us about our paperwork. We refiled a couple weeks ago and expect it to take a while to get an answer. The first time we filed it took five months and we don't expect it to go any quicker now.<br />
<br />
Thank you for all the prayers, letters, cards, emails, messages, and support!Bro.Arnoldhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05756653508789257377noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7610832077769781454.post-76164302395278457122011-12-23T10:12:00.000-05:002011-12-23T10:19:33.559-05:00Birthdays & Christmas<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4SgAAf_u4kE/TvSYcq081dI/AAAAAAAAAH8/951kcCR-x_Q/s1600/100_0965.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4SgAAf_u4kE/TvSYcq081dI/AAAAAAAAAH8/951kcCR-x_Q/s200/100_0965.jpg" width="200" /></a><br />

Today is Maryanna's 6th birthday! She is such a sweet girl and she loves to play mommy with her dollies.<br />

According to the doctors, she was born about 4 weeks early, but she has been a healthy, happy child.<br />
And we are very thankful for that!</div>

She loves pink, poofy dresses, dollies, flowers, and animals (except bugs!).</div>

She has made friends and loves to play with them.</div>

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9Wldm6Mb4EN-EoIcIggxiMum1Hkg6qFA20kOZ7jqGAkNhScreLLr21xmDHGtTLjWOSNt1gLJ_vh2Zi8v2voCn3nthnVgU8WfkaDAjNXTgd1OQ5FkBkjBsZC9S1yyIra7HJYAX3bDKNKLr/s1600/100_2460.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9Wldm6Mb4EN-EoIcIggxiMum1Hkg6qFA20kOZ7jqGAkNhScreLLr21xmDHGtTLjWOSNt1gLJ_vh2Zi8v2voCn3nthnVgU8WfkaDAjNXTgd1OQ5FkBkjBsZC9S1yyIra7HJYAX3bDKNKLr/s200/100_2460.JPG" width="200" /></a>I had met the man two weeks ago, spoke with him a while, and he had promised to come to our services on December 4th. I was nervous for those two weeks and wondering if he would come or not, wondering if he would understand us, wondering if he would think we are just crazy!</div>
<br />
He showed up right on time at 11, we had prayer time, sang a few songs, and had the preaching time. I have been preaching through the book of John and had just began chapter 7. I was able to preach on "Having a Real Relationship with God." He would nod his head occasionally and was teary eyed.<br />
<br />
After services we invited him to stay for our Sunday lunch and he really enjoyed it (Masey is an excellent cook, a ministry and area of service that most women seem to neglect). While Masey was finishing lunch preparations, he invited us over to his house for tea and cookies after the meal. We had a great time of fellowship at his house talking, watching Animal Planet, and playing on his flight simulator.<br />
<br />
We would love to move into a building because our living room & dining room just doesn't have much room for visitors. Please pray for us about this. I am looking into several places. Also pray for us about the languages. Our visitor spoke English well but there are so many more that could be reached if we were able to hold services in Danish or Greenland.<br />
<br />
It was a blessing having a visitor and seeing him participate in the services. He didn't know the songs we sang but tried to sing along. We are happy to have made a new friend and we pray that he will return to our services again. I told him he was welcome anytime that he wished to come.Bro.Arnoldhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05756653508789257377noreply@blogger.com1
